Cookies and Consent Mode

When Google Tag Manager is configured on a deployment, we show a cookie banner with Reject all,Manage preferences, andAccept all. Optional categories are off until you choose them. The lawful basis isconsent. The site works without optional cookies.

We use Google Consent Mode v2. Choices map to these signals:

• Analytics →analytics_storage
• Advertising →ad_storage,ad_user_data, andad_personalization(granted or denied together)

Defaults are denied until you opt in. Google Tag Manager loads only after you accept analytics (Basic Consent Mode) so reject and first-visit loads stay free of that script.

Analytics cookies

If you accept analytics, we use Google Analytics 4 (loaded via Google Tag Manager) to understand which calculators people use.

Cookies that may be set after you consent:

• _ga — distinguishes one visitor from another across visits (up to 2 years).
• _ga_<container-id>— GA4 session / container cookie for this site’s measurement property (up to 2 years).
• cc_cookie — stores your consent choice (necessary; always set when you use the banner).

Advertising consent

If you accept advertising, we send Consent Mode signals that allow Google to use data for advertising measurement and personalisation. We donot currently run Google Ads creatives, remarketing tags, or conversion pixels on CalcLab — this category is so those signals can be granted or denied correctly under Consent Mode v2.

If advertising tags are added later, related cookies (for example_gcl_*,_gac_*) may be set after consent; withdrawing advertising consent clears those where possible.

Third parties and international transfers

Google acts as a third-party processor for Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager. When analytics is enabled, data about your use of the site is sent to Google and may be processed outside the UK and EU (including in the United States), subject to Google’s terms and any transfer safeguards Google applies. Advertising consent signals are also sent to Google when those categories are granted and measurement tags fire.

Withdrawing consent

You can change or withdraw analytics and advertising consent at any time. That updates Consent Mode and clears related cookies where possible.
